Who? The audience for 1st Site Free are newcomers (newbie) to the Internet who have little or no prior background creating Web pages, and may even have limited computer skills. But, are very motivated to learn.

What? I will provide an online tutorial on how to create a Website for free in 7 easy steps: Plan, Design, Code (HTML), Upload (FTP), Test, Upload (FTP), Promote, and Maintain. I will also discuss both free and commercial Web hosting. I will also provide information and links to the numerous free tools available on the Internet to assist during these 7 steps. Research for the information on 1st Site Free is based my 30+ years of ADP experience and research, visiting other sites, newsletters, reading books and learning Website design.

When? Work on the 1st Site Free Website began in June 1997 and was finished three months later. When possible, the site is updated monthly.

Where? 1st Site Free was initially hosted on my local Internet service provider (ISP) computer. After a year's operation it was moved to a commercial hosting service (Powersurge.net) and my domain name 1stSiteFree.com obtained in June 1998.

Why? I created 1st Site Free to help other people learn HTML and motivate me to stay up to date on Webmaster topics.

How? I used the techniques outlinded Website Design Tutorial to create this Website:
