How to Select A Hosting Service

What Is a Hosting Service?
A hosting service is a company that provides web space to companies or individuals on one of their servers. A server is the computer they use to store files on that are accessible via the Internet.

Commercial web space providers are plentiful. There are hundreds of hosting companies to choose from. You have to be careful who you select to host your Website.

You must be able to answer the questions in bold below and on the pages that follow, before you sign-up with any Web hosting company. Since you haven't developed your Website yet, answering some of these questions may be difficult, but you need to make a rough estimate.

What Type of Website Do You Want?

Personal Website?
For a personnel Website, you need a host that will provide you 2 to 10 MB of disk space. Most free hosting companies can satisfy your requirements.
Small business Website?
If you're developing a web site for a small business or organization, you must also consider your future needs and expansion. Some free hosting companies might be able to satisfy your requirements. But, if you want your own domain name, like my-company.com, you will need to find a commercial hosting company.

I want to learn more. Let's go to Non-virtual/Virtual Hosting.

Wait A Minute! I have a question and need Help!.
