How to create or edit files

Notepad. To create or edit text files smaller than 64K (kilobytes) you can use Notepad.

  • Notepad is a simple text editor included with all versions Microsoft Windows since version 1.0 in 1985.
  • To locate Notepad on your PC, search for NOTEPAD.EXE. You will see an icon like this Notepad.

NoteTab Light. To create or edit text files larger than 64K, visit this site and download NoteTab Light. Its a free Notepad replacement and HTML editor. This application is even better than Notepad and its free!

  • For information on how to use NoteTab Light, click the Help menu.
  • For: Windows 95/98/2000/NT4/Me/XP.
  • Size: 32 MB of RAM, 4 MB disk space.
  • Requires: Intel® Pentium processor.

Using a text editor:

If you save a text file with an extension of .htm or .html, it becomes a HTML document when viewed by a browser. But, your page won't be formatted, because it contains no HTML tags.

For Macs use:
Simple text.
