A popular method to edit your
Webpages is to use an HTML editor. But, HTML editors can be
intimidating for the first-time user. Also, some WYSIWYG editors
create inaccessible and invalid HTML code. This means you will
have to manually correct your code when you test it. If you don't
know HTML this can be a problem.
There are two basic types of HTML
editors:
- Text-based. Text-based editors may have toolbars, tabs, and
menus to provide access to code-generation features, such as tag
entry, and global search and replace. With text-based tools,
knowledge of HTML is mandatory. But, you have total control of
your Webpage.
- WYSIWYG editors. A WYSIWYG (pronounced wizzy-wig and stands
for "what you see is what you get") are editors that enables you
to see on the display screen exactly what will appear when the
document is printed.
FrontPage is being phased out, with its features being made part
of Web Designer as well as SharePoint Designer 2007, which will
be part of the upcoming Office 2007 suite.
