How do I download files?

What does download mean? To copy file(s) from an online service, Website or remote computer to your own computer.

Every time you instruct your computer system to retrieve your mail, you are downloading it to your computer. You can download many kinds of files from the Internet, including images and software.

The opposite of download is upload, which means to copy a file from your own computer to another computer.

How do I download files. Microsoft Windows users. Macintosh users.

Caution: When you download any file from the Internet, you risk downloading viruses.

Windows:

1. Access the Website that contains the file(s) you want to download.
2. Click the file to download it.
3. When you click on a download link you will see a window like the one to the right.
4. You simply need to specify where to save the file, i.e., somewhere on your computer or on a floppy disk.
   • Downloading can take several minutes. The download window will show the approximate time it will take. You can cancel the operation and try again later if the time seems too long.
   • The name of the file appears in the space next to File name. You can change the name of the file, but do not change the three-letter file extension.
5. Click Save.
