Create Your First Blog
These days, about all it takes to become a blogger is an Internet connection, a little spare time, and opinion on a subjects that you're not afraid to share with the world.
Types of BlogsHere are some of the most common Web blog types:
Activist blogs. Do you believe something needs to be changed or fixed? Blog about what you believe in and rally others. Examples include:
- The Roving Activist’s Blog. From Peace and Justice and Disability Rights, to the Environment and beyond, I ... to learn about the various struggles and movements that are alive in this world!
- The Scientific Activist. An Oxford graduate student by day and a scientific activist by night, Nick Anthis isn't letting his Ph.D. research in protein structure get in the way of defending scientific and social progress.
Personal diary. This is probably the most obvious use of a blog. Write about what you do every day or about your home town or travels. Examples include:

- 15 Minutes Magazine. News and Views Covering Society and Celebrity - Travel and Entertainment - Jam-packed with Anecdotes Guaranteed to Amuse and Entertain as Well as Inform and Enlighten...
Celebrities and Gossip.
Let other fans know what’s going on with your favorite
celebrities and shows.
- Dish the dirt like they do on TMZ.com.
- The Smoking Gun. Providing documents obtained from government, law enforcement sources, and court files about the bad newsmakers.
Corporate blogs. Corporations are finding blogs as excellent opportunities to get their message out and communicate with customers. Examples:
- GM Blogs. GMblogs.com is General Motors' home for corporate blogs.
- Sun’s Blogs. Welcome to Blogs.sun.com! This space is accessible to any Sun employee to write about anything.
- Dell’s Direct2Dell. Corporate weblog which aims to address issues that are important to its customers.
Hobby. Have a favorite hobby? It’s a good bet that a lot of other people on the Internet are interested in the same thing. Write about it and invite other’s to join you.
- Simple Steps to a Great Garden. . This blog is about planning the perfect garden to suit your lifestyle, depending on your time and space constraints. Along with useful gardening tips and short cuts, as well as guides on various types of garden plants.
- Daily Menu Blog. If you are in to cooking? Check out this site.
News. Keep a blog of the latest big news events. Talk about what you think about what’s going on in the world or any given niche.
- The World Newser. This is a high profile world news blog. From ABC News.
- Topix. Blog News continually updated from sources around the Net about San Antonio, TX.
Tech blogs. Because of the technological nature of the Web, tech enthusiasts are starting daily.
- Facebook. Is a social networking service that lets you connect with friends, co-workers, and others who share similar interests or who have common backgrounds.
- Twitter. Twitter is an interesting and practical real-time messaging system for groups and friends.
- Flickr. Flickr is one of the most popular photo storage and sharing sites around, and there's a good reason for that. It's free and easy to use, and it features various methods for sorting, categorizing and tagging images.

Creating your own blog is actually
pretty simple since there are many sites willing to host your
blog for free. Building a blog using one of these blog hosts is
as simple as signing up for the service and filling in the
content.
