This page was created to assist you to with the task of submitting your URL to the major search engines and directories. Plus, it's absolutely free!

Submitting your site to these search engines and directories will not get you a high ranking. For that you need to optimize your pages first. If you don't know how to optimize your Web pages check out this page first If you have never registered a site, make sure you read about search engine spamming before you submit your URL.

Remember, each search engine is different. Some search engines limit the number of pages you can submit, while others only allow you to submit your home page (index.html). See Search Engine Characteristics.

Crawl My Site: Alexa

• Do not register with Alexa unless you have a domain name.
• Only register one URL per site. They will spider your domain name's WhoIs information, not your specific Web pages.
• Your URL submission will be indexed within 8 weeks of submission.

Search results on AlltheWeb are provided by Yahoo!. If you are interested in submitting your site to be considered for free inclusion in the Yahoo! Search index, Yahoo! Please Click Here Yahoo!

Submit your URL to: Ask

Ask informed me that they no longer offer a Site Submission service. However, they said "your site should appear in the Ask Search index as a result their ongoing 'crawling' of the Web for new and updated sites and content."

Submit your URL to: Exactseek

• Your site will not be added if it lacks proper Title and Meta Description tags or if you fail to respond to the verification email sent following your submission.

• Select your category: Arts, Business, Computers, Games, Health, Home, Kids, Teens, News, Recreation, Regional, Science, Shopping, Society, Sports or Blogs
• Select the 'Submit Your Website' option.
• Fill out the form.

Submit your URL to: Google

• Enter your full URL, including the http:// prefix. For example: http://www.google.com/.
• You may also add comments or keywords that describe the content of your page. These are used only for our information and do not affect how your page is indexed or used by Google.
• What are Google's webmaster guidelines?
• If you have a new Website, it will probably take about a month before Google lists your Web pages.

Submit your URL to: Jayde.com.

• Enter your full URL, including the http:// prefix. For example: http://www.1stsitefree.com/.
• By submitting your site, you indicate that you have read and agree to the Jayde Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

Submit your URL to: MSN Search

• Technical recommendations for your Website.
• MSN supports meta tags.
• Links to your site can improve you rating.
• MSN will index your site in 2 to 4 weeks.
• If you have questions about indexng your site contact feedback.

Submit your URL to: Open Directory.

• It's highly recommended that you take the time to read the instructions for The Open Directory Project before submitting your site.
• Prepare a 25 word or less description of your Website. This description should make use two or three keyword phrases.
• To submit, locate the category you want to be listed in. Then use the "add URL" link that appears at the top of the category page. Fill out the form using your 25 word or less description ... that's it.
• Because this is volunteer-based editing and inclusion it can take up to 8 weeks to be listed.
• You can monitor your submission at a public forum between the general public and the ODP Editors.

Submit your URL to: Splat search

• You may add 100 unique pages per day.
• Splat search supports Meta tags.
• Splat search will index your site in 1 to 3 weeks.

Submit your URL to: Yahoo

• Prepare a 25 word or less description of your Website. This description should make use two or three keyword phrases.
• Visit the Yahoo site at using the link on the left of this page. Read their instructions carefully.
• Select two categories that are applicable to your site. To do this, try searching for competition sites and see which categories they are indexed in.
• Create your submission similar to theirs.
• Don't include hype, marketing slogans or gimmicks. Talk about functionality only.
• If you aren't listed after 6 weeks, keep trying. Yahoo is the most important search service on the Web.
